The tree of life

Africa's 2,500-year-old
skincare secret.

If your dog scratches all night, drops fur in handfuls, or carries a dull, flaky coat and cracked, dry paws and nose, you are watching that inflammatory baseline surface — the same itchy skin, hot-spots and monsoon funk that come back every wet season. This is the natural, single-source fix built for exactly that: calm the skin, rebuild the coat, seal the cracks.

The African baobab — Adansonia digitata — is the oldest flowering tree on the planet. Verified specimens are over 2,450 years old. African indigenous medicine has used its bark, leaves, fruit, and seed oil for skin healing, gut health, antimicrobial care and 300+ documented uses for as long as anyone has been writing those uses down.

Every part of the baobab is useful. The seeds are cold-pressed for skin oil — Omega 3, 6, 9 alongside Vitamins A, D, E. The fruit pulp is a Vitamin-C powerhouse, six times denser than oranges. The bark, leaves, and roots feature in 300+ documented African medicinal uses. Centuries before any of this entered a Western lab, indigenous medicine was using every part of the tree for skin, gut, and immunity.

We import baobab directly from the source. Different products in our range use different parts of the tree — seed oil for the healing oil and balm, fruit powder for the therapy mask. We don't blend, dilute, or fragrance any of it. Every grooming product is built on the same lineage — different parts, same root.

What's inside

Just baobab seed oil.
Nothing else snuck in.

No "blends." No essential oils that turn out to be toxic in cats. No fragrance, no preservatives. One ingredient that does everything we need it to do.

What it does

An oil that earns its bottle.

Single-ingredient cold-pressed baobab seed oil. Here is the climb, rung by rung — the skin work it actually does.

Naturally antimicrobial

Neutralises the bacteria and yeast behind recurring fungal patches and hot spots.

Calms inflammation

Settles the redness, swelling, and itch that come with dermatitis flares.

Rebuilds the skin barrier

Omega 3-6-9 plus Vitamins A, D, E so the issue does not come straight back.

Lick-safe for dogs + cats

Single ingredient, no essential oils, no fragrance — safe if licked off the coat.

The proof

How to use

Lead with the issue.
Then the routine.

Wounds, hot spots, scratches

Direct, 2x daily

A drop or two on the affected patch, twice a day. Cleans, soothes, rebuilds. For deep open wounds, see a vet first — once they're scabbed and closing, the oil supports recovery faster.

Fungal patches

Twice-daily for 10-14 days

Apply directly to the affected zone twice a day. The natural antimicrobials in baobab work on yeast and bacteria — particularly powerful for the monsoon fungal patches that keep recurring around paws, belly folds, ear flaps.

Dermatitis flares

Daily until calm

For atopic, contact, or seasonal dermatitis flares: daily application on affected areas until the redness, itch, and inflammation subside. Often calms the cycle without needing the next round of steroid cream.

Coat + paws + snout

Pre-bath massage / daily finish

Once the skin issues are managed, the same oil works for general coat care: pre-bath massage for shine, post-bath finisher for moisture, daily on cracked paws or snout. Same bottle, same dog, less drama.

Mehul T..

Mumbai · Bagheera, 6 yr Indie

“Bagheera gets monsoon fungal flares every August like clockwork. Vet steroids worked but I hated the cycle. Two weeks of this oil twice a day and the patch cleared without the cream. He's calmer, the smell is gone, no recurrence so far.”

Anjali R..

Bangalore · Misha, 4 yr Indoor Cat

“Misha had a recurring crusty patch behind her ears that my vet kept treating with topical creams. Switched to this oil — half a drop daily on the patch — and it cleared in 9 days. She licks it, no issues. First skincare product that actually worked on a cat.”

Real questions, real answers

The stuff dog parents actually ask us.

How fast do fungal patches usually clear?

Most surface fungal patches (the seasonal monsoon kind around paws, belly, ear flaps) calm visibly in 3-5 days of twice-daily application and clear by day 10-14.

Can I use it on open wounds?

Not on raw, bleeding wounds — let them scab first. Once the wound is in the healing phase, baobab oil supports faster closure and reduces scarring. For minor cuts, scratches, and bite mark irritation, you can apply earlier.

My dog has chronic dermatitis. Will this stop the cycle?

Honest answer: chronic dermatitis is rarely "cured" by anything. What this oil does is reduce the FREQUENCY and SEVERITY of flares by keeping the skin barrier intact between them. Most customers report fewer episodes, less intense itching during episodes, and faster recovery. We don't promise a cure — we promise the cycle gets quieter.

Is it safe if my dog or cat licks it?

Yes — human-grade and lick-safe for both species. No essential oils (which are toxic to cats), no fragrance, no preservatives. Small amounts licked off the coat are completely fine. If your pet ingests a large quantity from the bottle, monitor for loose stool over 24 hours.

Can I use it on cats?

Yes — actively safe for cats. The reason most pet oils aren't cat-safe is essential oils (tea tree, eucalyptus, lavender etc) which cats can't metabolise. Our oil is single-ingredient — pure baobab seed oil, no essential oils anywhere. Use half the dog volume (cats need less) and patch-test first as always.

How does this differ from coconut oil?

Coconut oil is mostly saturated fat — it sits on the coat, gives shine, has mild moisturising properties. Baobab seed oil is rich in Omega 3-6-9 + Vitamins A, D, E and contains naturally antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory compounds. Different mechanism, different therapeutic depth. Coconut for occasional shine; baobab for actual skin support.

How long does the bottle last?

The 100ml bottle lasts 2–4 months on a medium-sized dog with regular use. A few drops go a long way — it's highly concentrated. For active flare-ups, a bottle can last 4-6 weeks if you're applying twice daily.

The grooming bench

Catalogued like a herbarium, not a shelf.

The same hand catalogues every grooming product. Pair the oil with its shelf-mates from the Tree of Life range.

Why monthly

Skin issues recur.
So does the bottle.

Atopic dermatitis is recurring. Fungal flares come back every monsoon. Hot spots return. The oil works because it gets used consistently — between flares, during them, and after. Subscribe and we ship before you run out, save you 10%, and you skip the 'crap, we're out of the oil' moment when your dog needs it most.

23 reviews for Baobab Therapy Mask

  1. Charu N. (verified owner)

Powder was slightly clumpy in one batch (humidity I think). Mixed fine eventually. Otherwise good product.

  2. Tanay K. (verified owner)

Application takes 10 mins. Powder is easy to mix into a paste. Dog tolerates it because she likes the smell apparently.

  3. Mansi D. (verified owner)

Two indies, both seasonal scratchers. The mask + baobab oil routine has made monsoon manageable for the first time.

  4. Pankaj W. (verified owner)

Works well. Application is a bit messy if you have a wriggly dog. Pre-bath setup helps. Worth the effort once you get the routine.

  5. Ritika Malhotra (verified owner)

Arrey finally someone made a proper hair mask for dogs!! My shih tzu’s coat used to be like jhaadu after bath no matter what conditioner I tried. Applied this left for 15 min and rinsed. The coat came out SO silky I couldn’t stop touching her. Already told all my dog mom friends. Must buy for long coat breeds.

  6. Arun Menon (verified owner)

Using this along with the baobab oil now. Oil after bath for daily grooming and this mask during bath once a week. My golden retriever literally looks like those show dogs on youtube. People stop us on walks to ask kya karte ho coat ke liye. This combo is unreal.

  7. Vikram S. (verified owner)

Senior cocker spaniel with sensitive skin. Most shampoos make him scratch more. The clay-based mask actually calms his skin down post-bath.

  8. Sameer Joshi (verified owner)

Was spending 1800 per grooming session every 2 weeks because my cockers coat was impossible to manage at home. Started using this mask and now I groom him myself. Coat quality is BETTER than what the salon was giving. Saving 3600/month easy. Product pays for itself.

  9. Sneha Pillai (verified owner)

Husky undercoat is a different beast altogether. This mask definitely makes the fur softer and more manageable after bath but I need to use almost half the jar per session because theres just SO much fur. Amazing product but need a bigger tub for giant breeds. Please make 500gm option.

  10. Deepali Menon (verified owner)

Double coat breed parents listen up. This mask during bath + proper blowdry after = zero matting for almost a whole week. I used to dread brushing sessions but now its actually enjoyable. The coat stays detangled SO much longer. Revolutionary for high maintenance coats.

  11. Eshita M. (verified owner)

I appreciate that there’s no fragrance or sulphates. Just the natural ingredients listed. My pug’s ear infection issue eased after 2 weeks.

  12. Prerna Jain (verified owner)

Game changer for curly coat breeds. My poodle’s curls were always frizzy and tangled after bath. This mask defines the curls properly and they stay bouncy for days. No other dog conditioner in India comes close to this. Tried Wahl tried Bio-Groom tried everything. This wins.

  13. Vikram Choudhary (verified owner)

My spitz had that dry straw like texture after monsoon. Tried this mask on a friends suggestion and sach mein the coat transformed in one wash. Soft fluffy and the shedding also reduced noticeably. Natural product no chemicals no fragrance bombs. Exactly what I wanted.

  14. Meera Deshmukh (verified owner)

Groomer told me to try some imported mask costing 2500rs. Instead ordered this for much less and honestly the results are same or better. Deep conditioning without weighing down the coat. My shih tzu’s fur has this natural flow now that it never had before. 10/10 recommend.

  15. Niharika P. (verified owner)

Allergy season is the worst for our lab. Mask once a week has cut her itch-scratch cycle by easily 70%. We’re hooked.

  16. Mihir R. (verified owner)

Smelled herbal not artificial when I opened it. Good sign. Skin felt notably softer after first use. Coat shinier within a week.

  17. Sheryl P. (verified owner)

Vet had advised a clay rinse for fungal issues. This is the clay rinse, plus more. Two-issue solution in one product.

  18. Sahil J. (verified owner)

Not a quick fix, takes 2-3 weeks of weekly use to see real change. But the change holds. Different from the temporary smelly-shampoo wins.
