I’m Mahiv Chhabra — a certified canine nutritionist, raw feeding advocate, and the founder of The Doggos. I started this brand because I got tired of watching Indian dog parents unknowingly poison their dogs with kibble, chemical treats, and synthetic supplements.
Everything I write and every product I formulate comes from one obsession: species-appropriate nutrition for Indian dogs.
My Credentials
- Certified Canine Nutritionist — formal certification in canine diet, metabolism, and supplementation
- 5+ years working directly with Indian dog parents on raw feeding transitions, allergy management, and condition-specific diets
- Hands-on experience with 100+ dogs across breeds — Indie, Labrador, German Shepherd, Rajapalayam, Mudhol Hound, Golden Retriever, and more
- Deep research background in Ayurvedic principles applied to pet health
Why I Started The Doggos
In 2017, my golden retriever kept getting skin infections and a weak immune system led to demodex mange. Three vets, four kibble brands, and two “prescription diets” later — nothing worked. I switched him to a species-appropriate diet and every issue cleared in 6 weeks.
That experience sent me down a rabbit hole. I certified in canine nutrition, obsessed over ingredient labels, and realised the Indian pet food market was full of products designed for shelf life and marketing — not dog health.
So I built The Doggos: real food, real ingredients, real results.
What I Believe
- Dogs are carnivores. Their biology hasn’t changed since wolves. Their diet shouldn’t be grains and by-products.
- India has incredible ingredients — fresh mutton, chicken, fish, organs — that most dog parents ignore in favour of expensive imported kibble.
- Supplements should be whole-food based, not synthetic. Hemp oil over fish oil capsules. Dehydrated organs over multivitamin tablets.
- The best vet is a well-fed dog. Most “health conditions” I see in Indian dogs are diet-related and reversible.
What I Write About
Every article on The Desi Carnivore blog is written by me — not outsourced, not AI-generated filler. I write about:
- What Indian dogs can and cannot eat (with the science behind it)
- Raw feeding for the Indian context — local ingredients, local climate, Indian breeds
- Skin and coat issues specific to monsoon and summer heat
- Supplement guides: what works, what’s marketing, what Indian dogs actually need
- Breed-specific nutrition for Indian breeds and popular breeds in India
The Products
Every product at The Doggos is something I’d give my own dog — and do. Dehydrated single-ingredient treats. Cold-pressed hemp oil. Baobab skincare. No artificial preservatives, no synthetic flavours, no shortcuts.
If a product doesn’t meet that standard, it doesn’t exist in our catalogue.
